'Rock off Meadfoot Beach'
A bit of a departure from still life painting, which has preoccupied me for a good while now. This small landscape painting of a rock out to sea off Meadfoot Beach in Torquay was painted in situ when I finished walking along a section of South West Coast Way in July. It is executed in Winsor and Newton 'Artisan' water mixable oil paints, on acrylic primed grayboard measuring approx 12 x 12 cms.
It was painted in July 2018.

'Small Change'
Having not exhibited for some time I wanted to paint something in time for the CWSA annual exhibition this year, which was to be hosted at East Lodge, the home of Leamington Studio Artists.
Still not having much time, I had a think about small subjects for small still life paintings and came up with this arrangement of coins.
It was of course very difficult to paint the detail on such tiny objects, in such a small scale painting, but I'm generally happy with the suggested detail that leaves your mind to fill in what's missing here.
This small still life is executed in Winsor and Newton 'Artisan' water mixable oil paints, on acrylic primed grayboard measuring 12 x 12 cms.
It was painted in April 2018.
